New Beginnings

I am thrilled to be teaching art at a new school, Langley EC, this fall. Langley is a public school building located in Northeast Washington DC. This area of the city has been changing in recent years. Many new businesses are opening and new families moving to the neighborhood. It is my hope to bring together visual art, kids, families, and businesses of Northeast DC not only in my classroom, but through my blog as well.

This blog is going to serve a few purposes for the next school year. To begin, it will be a wonderful place to keep students, parents, colleagues, and friends updated about what is going on from week to week in the classroom. I plan on updating the blog weekly with photos of the students working and slide shows of their completed projects. It can also serve other art teachers who are searching for lesson ideas, inspiration, and photos of student examples. I look forward to seeing the blog grow with views and comments.

The blog will be a source of information for my students. I will have links to fun and exciting art websites and videos. There are currently three student computers available in my classroom. I would like the students to become comfortable and aware of their classroom blog through the use of the student computers in the classroom. Kids will be able to easily navigate to fun art games, research links, or even slide shows of their peer's work. It will be a great way for students to gain a stronger sense of pride for their classroom and for their self discovery learning.
